Julie Cohen Julie Cohen grew up in Maine, USA. After earning a summa cum laude degree with honours in English from Brown University, where she worked as a writing tutor anddrew a weekly cartoon about a squid, Julie spent a year atCambridge and fell in love with the UK. She stayed on to write a thesis in fairies in English Literature at the University of Reading, and then to teach English at secondary level. She now writes full time and runs popularwriting courses, including those for the Guardian, RandomHouse, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. She is the official cartoonist for the Sherlock Holmes Journal. Julie lives with her husband, a guitar tech for rock bands, and their son in Berkshire.
